KG Tone Hound Pickup Mfg is a small business, veteran owned and operated. As a Pickup maker, I will work with you to help achieve the tonal aspects you have interest in achieving. I have spent a long time specializing in maintenance, repair and modification of pickups.
Old pickups you love not giving the love back these days? Well, you'll be glad to know that rewinds, rewaxing and mods are a thing these days! With the rising cost of supplies, it can be a good solid financial option.
I produce guitar pickups, whether single coil strat, tele, jaguar, jazz master, P-90, as well as PAF and Modern style humbuckers.
For single coils, we start at the ground level, taking flat work, assembling with pole magnets, lacquering, winding, waxing, magnetizing and lastly taping.
For Humbuckers, pole spacing needs to known, then a base plate is chosen (short or long legged, depending on the depth of the body), bobbins are chosen (black, bumble bee, cream or white) are wound to chosen spec, make it a 2 or 4 wire, magnet type chosen ALNICO or Cermaic, potted (waxed) or unpotted (unwaxed), cover (gold, chrome or nickel) or open coils
I will work with You, the customer, to ensure the pickups you're looking for are what you want. I also rewind old pickups, bring them back to spec, rewax or make them totally different, if you don't want to part with them, but want to breath some new life back into them.
********************DISCLAIMER**********************
I am not an Industrial Supplier, meaning I do not have the manpower or machinery to put out vast quantity most of you have become accustomed to seeing, from large scale manufacturers. I produce high quality custom pickups.
I will also install your pickups for a fee, unless you are doing the installation yourself. I will not take responsibility for the outcome of your pickups if you decide to install on your own. I assume you know what you're doing if you proceed down this path.
Give me a call! I love talking about pickups and what you're looking for tone wise.
Please keep in mind that I am a one man show. I do not "pump" out several sets a day. Maybe 1 or 2. I make pickups upon request only. I do not get involved with contracts and my price is my price. I know my worth and the time that goes into making them.
I do not have the buying power of commercial pickup companies such a Lollar, Seymour Duncan, Gibson, Fender, Thro-Bak etc...Though I do buy from the same sources they do. Why? Because it's the best materials and I refuse to put out garbage.
The major aspect to this very competitive industry is buying power and financial persuasion, so I take a back seat preference with suppliers when it comes time for availability. Sometimes the Big Companies buy it all out and I'm left in a dry spell. It happens. I am at the mercy of the industry's supply and demand.
We love our customers, so feel free to call and arrange for an appointment to discuss your needs!
